    The Ball Room

    The Ball Room, located on the upper floor of the historic pavilion at the heart of John Ball Park, makes an iconic event location. The BALL ROOM used to be a theatre and some of its drama can still be seen in the high ceiling and spotlights. A spacious, partially covered veranda overlooks the colorful rose garden making this a very versatile indoor/outdoor space. Three double doors and floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides bring the park setting inside.  FAQ

    Rent The Zoo

    For those looking for an evening outing at the zoo, few people know that they can treat their guests to a private evening at the Zoo.  John Ball Zoo can be a delightfully casual party for families or it can become a tropical paradise for adults. It’s the only place where you can dine with the lions just inches away and watch the hornbills bob to the music.    FAQ

    • Full access to all public areas of the Zoo* - events are scheduled 6:30 to 9:00 pm but guests may arrive earlier
    • Event Staff members to assist 4 - 9:30 pm - additional staff available at $25 per hour
    • Private After Hours Zoo Rentals:  6:30 pm to 9:00 pm: Mid-May, June, July and August

    Covered areas:

    • Lion Viewing Bomas
    • Chimp Deck
    • Large tented area with tables on the Boardwalk
    • Two exhibit buildings - Treasures of the Tropics & Van Andel Living Shores Aquarium open to 9 pm

    Animal contact:

    • Budgie Aviary - 200 feedsticks included
    • Strolling animal handlers mingle with guests and answer questions

    * Animal welfare, births, construction, etc. may make an area of the Zoo inaccessible during rental. John Ball Zoo reserves the right to designate these areas as off limits at any time.
