Horticulture
These volunteers offer services and activities in the park and gardens such as planting, raking, weeding, parking, trail work, greeting visitors, etc. The work is seasonal with shifts usually occuring in the morning. Once trained you may be able to set your own schedule for when you want to help in the Park.
There are currently no openings in horticulture.
Who
Individuals who like to be outdoors, enjoy doing yard work, being active and setting their own hours.
Why
To help the horticulture crew keep John Ball Zoo and it's surrounding park beautiful!
Possible Duties:

Picking up trash in the parking lots

Planting flowers in the spring

Weeding gardens, flower beds, and pots

Watering flower pots
-
Deadheading flowers
-
Maintaining the Rose Garden

Hauling compost bins
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to tolerate the sometimes physically strenuous and demanding requirements of the activities and weather
- Meet with the Volunteer Department and/or Horticulture staff for an interview and orientation
- Successfully complete required background checks
